Free Choice Lovely Bones

Lovely bones have stirred up a lot of emotions with me. I find it overwhelming that this author could show so much deep emotion through a book. At times I felt like I had to set it down because it’s hard to read how careless people are and how they walk around like nothing happened. At a certain point in time I would get angry, I felt like the author wanted us to feel every emotion there was, she showed pain, remorse, loneliness, etc. It got to the point that I couldn’t read anymore because the story wasn’t going the perfect way I hoped it would. I am sure this book could relate to many people that know or have family members murdered over people mental issues, although it would be painful for them the Author made it in away the people could connect on different levels and let their pain go.Y

guided response "the lovely bones" poem

The lovely bones poem
The heartache he caused my parents was unbearable
He took everything from me in a blink of an eye
I was in between heaven and I was already losing sight
He didn’t know how much a father could love his daughter
And I couldn’t believe how my mother would react
In fact I was sure she would have a heart attack.
He chopped me up as if I was meat
Why couldn’t anyone smell me in the heat?
My lovely bones he hid away
I am in heaven now, I hope my parents know I’m safe

Free choice "the lovely bones"

As many people know I am the type of girl that enjoys watching the movie before I read the book. I attempted to read “The lovely bones” first but I couldn’t help it. I recently watched the movie and I was somewhat disappointed with the movie. From what I have read of the book it seems to start off the same but then takes different turns that kind of confuses me. Although, I found aspects of the movie profoundly moving. The text stirred up a lot of emotion with me visualizing this young girl die and the grieving her parents must have felt. The book has many sad parts and at times it’s hard to put it down, but I am managing to get through it. Some books are better off as being left at books because I feel the movies left out so many parts, and also movies can’t really go into much detail like a book could. For once I honestly wished I would have waited until I was finished with the book.

Free Choice response- Liar

As I continue to read liar I start to notice a lot of different things. The author wants us readers to feel and understand the same feelings Micah feel dealing with Zach’s death. I notice that when she start thinking about him the author tries to make us feel emotional as well. The way she expresses herself I could feel what she is feeling and how she is coping with it. The text tackles around a lot of unanswered questions I still want to know. Its extremely hard to put down the book because I would like to continue on and find out what’s a lie and what isn’t. Leaving us readers with big questions unanswered such as the truth about her dad and his father, or about the simplest things like her great uncle being dead it remind us how untrustworthy she is. The strangest part in the novel so far is when Micah continues to lie to the detectives and also get her father lying to save her from going to the station, it’s like no matter who you are Micah isn’t afraid of anything or anyone. I also find it weird that everyone who is considered to be close to Zach left his funeral. As I continue on I hope that Micah decides to unravel the truth.

Guided Response -Book"Liar"

The book liar lives up to its title. The main character warns us before we start reading that she is a compulsive liar. So far what I have read I find it very interesting how Micah switches her personality a lot throughout the book. The story began on a good start showing the readers exactly why the book is titled liar. From the start Micah lies about who she is, she makes everyone believe that she is a boy. Lie after lie she continues to find herself and trouble inside and outside of the school. It make us readers want to read on and find out when will she ever tell the truth, which makes me wonder if that would even be the truth when she decides to come clean. She makes a promise that while she can’t stop lying to everyone in her family; she intends to tell us the truth. I think, her being untrustworthy makes the book that much better because we never know what to expect.

week 3 reading process

Y In my past I have read a decent amount of books. I mainly read books that focus on romance because it is very interesting to me. I read every now and then when I see something good. I’m a very lazy person so it takes me a long while to complete a book at times I don’t even finish because I have so many other things going on in my life. The books that keep me the most interested are urban books. Many people ask me all the time why do I read such nasty horrible books, when actually I think they’re pretty good. I cannot relate to them on any level but I could paint a vivid picture and really understand what’s going on in urban books. Growing older going through all the Dr. Seuss, and Author books I can see that I expanded on my reading ability. If it wasn’t for just those little books you receive on Christmas or a birthday many people would really be behind. I love looking at movies and then reading the book after it because I know how much different the movies would be I don’t want to spoil a good end to the book. My plans for this semester is to read many books in and out of class I was really interested in the novel list and plans on visiting libraries, Barnes and noble, or borders to start my journey of books. My plan is to read my book every night before bed and continue in the morning. I should be able to get at least to books done in a month.
